I keep telling myself I need to keep updating this blog of mine. But, with not much to talk about at the moment... I got nuthin'. So, how about some cartoon recommendations?

There's plenty of junk out there, so it's nice when something comes along that's better than mediocre. Here's two:

Monster Buster Club is a monster-of-the-week show with 4 precocious middle school kids fighting evil aliens. See, they're part of this titular club which has been around for centuries or something, commissioned by some outer space authority to protect Earth. The character designs and animation are really good, especially considering it's TV CGI. You have your stereotypical hero types (geek, hot-head, strong female, bubbly girl) but there's enough else there to keep it from getting irksome. For instance, the bubbly girl is actually a good alien in disguise. The monsters they fight are actually pretty creative, meaning they have to be creative to defeat them. Although there's lots of times when you're thinking to yourself, "just shoot 'em already." The writing otherwise is decent - jokes tend to fall flat more often than not and pacing feels a little off at times. Maybe because it's French Canadian, I dunno. It airs sporadically on DisneyXD.

Jimmy Two-Shoes (warning: audio) is a frantic Flash-animated series about a kid who lives in a town populated by devilish creatures. The ruler of the town, a short little devilish guy, tries to keep everyone there miserable, while Jimmy brings sunshine and general weirdness to everyone. It doesn't help that he's friends with the ruler's lazy son and the ruler's number one inventor (an angry little girl, which I always enjoy). I'm really glad people are figuring out this Flash animation thing. I was really worried for a while we were only going to get Kappa Mikey from here on out, but the Two-Shoes guys know what they're doing. The character designs are appealing and appropriate for Flash, and the animation is fluid and lively. The stories are strange. I mean really strange. Giant clown robot, beach with sand monsters, giant fat ogre jumping into a lake to flood the city strange. I like bizarre humor, but it's not for everyone. Like MBC, it also airs sporadically on DisneyXD. I really wish they would pick a schedule and stick with it. Is that too much to ask all you cartoon-playing stations out there? Has no one heard of consistent programming decisions?!
