I remember when I first heard the term "sans." My sixth grade math teacher used it when writing a homework assignment on the board. As we were leaving class, I made the obvious "sans/sands" pun, and I can still recall the conflicted look as she humored me while (not-so) secretly loathing me for the horrible joke.
